Eastern Mediterranean Regional Information
This is the area mostly to the East of Antalya and served by Antalya airport. The main resorts are Alanya, Side and Belek and to a lesser extent Kemer. This area has the warmest climate in Turkey and is the only area that remains open to tourism throughout the Winter as well as the summer. Antalya airport has direct charter flights from the UK for 12 months of the year. The majestic Taurus mountains are high enough to provide skiing in Winter months and run as a backdrop along the coast out as far as Alanya and beyond.
This is the ideal region for those who want guaranteed sunshine for as long as possible. You can swim in the sea here until late in November and even in January there are plenty of warm sunny days when you can eat outside in comfort during the daytime.
Alanya
Alanya is the ultimate "lifestyle" resort with excellent beaches, a fantastic harbour surrounded by hundreds of bars, cafes and restaurants and a truly cosmopolitan night-life. It is big enough to still be active and enjoyable throughout the Winter.

Avsallar
Avsallar is a growing town just to the East of Alanya. It boasts some of the regions best beaches, 5 star hotels and its own town centre with a much smaller, suburban feeling compared with nearby Alanya. Cheaper property prices and quieter surroundings make it an attractive option.

Belek
Belek is Turkey's golfing capital boasting 6 international standard golf courses and a stunning coast line. The mild winter climate makes it a favourite holiday destination for out-of-season golfers and family holidays in its many 5 star hotels. One cautionary note is to point out that Belek doesn’t have a very nice town centre with bars and restaurants as it is almost entirely given over to large “all-inclusive” style hotels. Also, all of the property for sale in this district is set well back from the sea on a flat and not very attractive plain. Fantastic for golfers, not so interesting for independent family holidays!
Kemer
Kemer is an often overlooked region on the Mediterranean coast to the South and East of Antalya. The town itself is small and manageable and there are plenty of good beaches in the area as well as the towering Taurus Mountains to explore. A modern marina attracts the sailing fraternity, and many of the larger, luxury holiday villages are based in this area. Adrasan and Olympos are favourite haunts of the independent back-packing brigade and offer a perfect, lazy, beachside holiday option.
Side
Side (pronounced see-day) is like an open air museum with Roman ruins scattered absolutely everywhere. It boasts excellent sandy beaches and an interesting town centre as well as lots to do and see in the area. It also has the advantage of being close to the Golf courses of neighbouring Belek as well as being only 45 minutes away from the airport. Situated on the Mediterranean coast, Side has a long hot summer and a mild sunny winter making it an attractive resort for year long living. Nearby are many famous historic sites including the world famous Aspendos ruins.
